Prof. Koret Hirschberg

Short Bio

Professor Koret Hirschberg is a cell biologist at Tel Aviv University Medical School, specializing in live cell imaging and intracellular trafficking.

A graduate of the Weizmann Institute, he further developed his expertise during his postdoctoral training at the NIH with Jennifer Lippincott-Schwartz.

His research has led to a significant dogma shift in understanding ER-to-Golgi transport, advancing knowledge of how proteins move through the secretory pathway.

His interdisciplinary approach combines cell biology, physics, and mathematical modelling to analyse vesicle dynamics, membrane domain organization, and protein-lipid interactions.

This integrative method has uncovered vital insights into membrane compartmentalization and cellular organization.

Professor Hirschberg's work bridges fundamental cellular processes with biophysical principles, contributing to our understanding of membrane dynamics and intracellular trafficking.

His work continues to shape our understanding of cellular transport and its role in health and disease.
