Academics, Profession and Way of Life
The Department of Occupational Therapy was founded in 1985. Our Department is committed to training excellent clinicians, researchers, and leaders within the national and international occupational therapy field and to fully equip them to respond to society's ever-changing needs. Through its graduates, the Department aims to contribute to the well-being of the population by advancing knowledge regarding engagement in life's occupations and supporting participation.
We aspire to maintain our reputation as a leading academic program through a process of continuous self-evaluation, improvement and expansion of the frontiers of our field both in teaching and research, and to encompass areas beyond the traditional parameters of occupational therapy.
The academic program is fixed and provides students with knowledge in the various areas of occupational therapy clinical practice. Emphasis is placed on learning skills and knowledge that enhance the effectiveness of occupational therapy practice, and the development of advanced adult learning skills for ongoing professional development. Students examine how to promote the full participation of people with disabilities in society, both for preventative and remediation purposes and for purposes of self-determination.
